Thatβs cool, you have lots of different interests! Your interest in Hotel Transylvania explains explains your profile picture on the other community. Have you watched all the Hotel Transylvania films?

I have a lot of dedicated interests, my favourite is anything science fiction like Doctor Who, Star Trek and Star Wars. I've recently started watching Quantum Leap which I've never seen before but am loving so far! π
Another thing I'm interested in and passionate about is music! I also like singing.
What's everyone else's interests?

In terms of my dedicated interests, I love engaging in our autistic community (such as this one) and learning everything I can about the diversity of our autistic experiences, usually via Aucademy - which is absolutely brilliant! I have recently started blogging about my autistic experience too, which I really enjoy!

But luckily feeling much better again today. Quantum Leap is a science fiction TV series about a scientist who travels through time by leaping in to the person and putting things right in their lives as they went wrong the first time. It's a really good show. It ran for five seasons and IMO is one of the best science fiction shows out there. I like singing the blues and rock n roll. My voice sort of works with it, in a way, I think π€π€¦π»ββοΈ I'm so glad you get so much enjoyment from your dedicated interests. I love Aucademy as well, it's a really informative and interesting resource for Autistic people. I like being in touch with other autistic people as well, it's interesting reading other people's experiences in life and can be helpful too. Your blog sounds great! I had a blog when I was at secondary school but I don't do it anymore. Have a nice day. Destiny x

Definitely a binge worthy show given there are 5 series! Blues and rock n roll are great genres, who are your favourite singers in these realms? Glad you love Aucademy too, I would love to be a guest educator one day! If you didn't already know Aucademy now only host monthly livestreams as opposed to weekly. Connecting with our neurokin is so important. Thanks for the compliment, what did you blog about? Destiny x

I don't really have any dedicated interests. I have things I enjoy, but not obsessively so. I go to football matches and live music when I can afford it. I've got two grounds left to visit in England to complete "the 92" i.e. have seen a game at every one of the 92 league grounds. I collect music and have a fair few records, CDs, and cassettes. I like travelling too, am going to Leeds for a concert in 2 weeks, and then to Paris for another concert at the end of the month

I like travelling too, am going to Leeds for a concert in 2 weeks, and then to Paris for another concert at the end of the month Hi! Just so you know, our interests are not 'obsessive', they are passionate, dedicated or specialised. Please avoid using the term obsessive to describe our interests as it is a word that is unnecessarily pathologising and it has negative connotations. Besides, when a non autistic person specialises in an area of interest, they are described as an expert, yet when we explore a passion it is often perceived in a negative way! Thanks for understanding this! Anyway, your interests seem cool! Your tour of football stadiums must be interesting, where will you go next? I imagine it will be very satisfying once you have reached your goal of exploring all 92 grounds! Live music seems like a very immersive experience, I would never wish to go to such events as it would be too loud for me. I hope you enjoy both of the upcoming concerts. What performances are you most looking forward to at the Leeds concert?

Sorry about the obsessively thing. I dont see it as a negative at all! But appreciate my perspective is different to societal worldview I guess? The thing with live music is that you can get fantastic ear pieces now which reduce the overall sound, but not the quality. In fact, many people wear them at gigs to protect their ears. Unfortunately, they werent around in 80's/90's when I started going to gigs, and neither was legislation on noise volume, so my ears are ruined and I have constant tinnitus. I dont mind loud music when it's expected. I can't cope with sirens and unexpected noises, and noisy environments due to lots of people talking (at gigs the music drowns that out, perfect!). My issues at gigs is to do with crowds not behaving themselves, encroaching on *my space*, queues for bars not having any structure or reason etc. But taking a friend/PA helps alot And not all my music is loud and manic. Going to see Sleeping At Last soon and his music is beautiful and calm and wonderful. My favourite songs of his are called "saturn" and "nine". check them out

It's great that you don't interpret the word obsessive in a negative way. Yes I have heard of the earpieces you can get, more specifically the Loop earplugs have been discussed frequently in other autistic communities that I am a member of. Constant tinnitus must be frustrating? I completely understand what you mean about loud music that is predictable! I love listening to the same songs on repeat, in contrast unexpected noises such as sirens that you mention can be quite jarring. This is particularly true of high pitched noises, such as school fire alarms! I don't imagine that you have much if any personal space at concerts, I completely understand how that could be distressing. It's great that you bring people along with you who can support you if needed. I love calm music too! Thanks for the recommendations, I shall listen to these songs so we can continue our discussion.
